The Seminar for Officials of Schistosomiasis Control in Developing Countries was held successfully

On May 16, the Seminar for Officials of Schistosomiasis Control in Developing Countries, sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and hosted by Jiangsu Institute of Schistosomiasis Control, was officially launched. Through the Neglected Tropical Diseases Programme of the WHO Regional Office for Africa, the course attracted 41 participants from Tanzania, Gabon, Ethiopia, Uganda, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Madagascar and other countries.

The 14-day workshop was conducted online and was taught by experts from the Chinese Center for Disease Control, Fudan University, Nanjing Medical University and Jiangsu Institute of Schistosomiasis Prevention and Control. The main courses include the construction of public health system in China, strategies and experiences of schistosomiasis control in China, investigation and control of host snails, diagnosis and research progress of schistosomiasis, schistosomiasis health education and international cooperation projects for schistosomiasis control. This workshop is the first online human resources cooperation development project conducted by Jiangsu Blood Prevention and Control Institute after the completion of China's assistance to Zanzibar Schistosomiasis prevention and control cooperation project. The project aims to share experience in tropical disease prevention and control and China's experience in comprehensive management, improve the tropical disease prevention and control capacity of African countries, strengthen talent reserve and tropical disease research capacity building.
